‘Queer Tours of London – A Mince Through Time’ host Disability Queer Riot!

There are no fully accessible LGBTQI+ venues in the whole of central London. On the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality – LGBTQI+ disability rights take to the streets of Soho to make a point that none of us are free until we all are free.

How can I be proud of my LGBT+ identity at ‘Pride in London’ if I can’t even get to the bar to celebrate?
How can I mince, flirt and meet others if there is not even 1 LGBT+ bar or club that is fully accessible to the LGBT+ disabled community?
How can I be proud of my impairments if i’m discriminated to come on Pride?

Are you part of the LGBT+ disability community? Are you sick and tired of being ignored and tokenised? Want more action and less talk?

Well join Josh – a ‘Queer Tours of London – A Mince Through time’ guide, trainee lawyer and sexual revolutionary whilst we take to the streetsand in true queer provocative style do an informative and interactive tour of Soho to share the lived realities of the LGBT+ disabled community.

The plan

2pm – Meeting point – Soho Square
2-3pm Placard making with the scores for each venue and the demands
3-5pm – Queer disabled Riot-tour!
5-6pm – Presentation of our demands in central London venue tbc. Invites are being sent to London’s LGBT+ cultural spaces managers.

Access 4 All – we’ll chain ourselves to the steps by September if you don’t make an explicit statement of your intentions

” Have you ever been somewhere that you wanted to visit but told that you can’t because of Accessibilty, health and safety or sorry if you come in you can’t get to the toilet or the classic it’s too busy. Well, I for one often get almost all of these answers when trying to access gay bars and clubs on the london LGBT+ scene, occasions I’m with friends and they are allowed to get in and I’m now posing an issue. For those that has disabled facilities the toilets are often used as store rooms or too small. I just can’t win.

This gives disabled LGBT+ plus people the impression as to not out seemingly the venues are not aware of intersectionality I’m black, gay, disabled but most of all I’m a human being with the same desires as those who are able bodied. I just have to do things in an orderly fashion. “ Kevin Wilson
