‘Molly’s Masquerade’ is coming to Bethnal Green with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund! Queer Tours of London – A Mince Through Time are honoured to be part of this fabulous project.
Molly’s Masquerade focuses on early LGBTQIA+ culture through ‘Molly Houses’. ‘Molly’ was a slang word for a homosexual man or a lower-class woman who was sometimes a sex worker, with Molly Houses becoming a meeting place for early homosexual subculture between 1700 and 1820. Did you know that there was a Molly House close to St Margaret’s House on Whitechapel Road?

Season One of Three –
Over the next year there will be three seasons for you to take part in which include research workshops, walks, costume making, talks, performance with the grand finale at the Molly’s Ball in July 2021! We’re excited to announce our first season of events which is all about research and learning all about the Molly’s through a series of workshops.
