‘Molly’s Masquerade’ is coming to Bethnal Green

Molly’s Masquerade’ is coming to Bethnal Green with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund! Queer Tours of London – A Mince Through Time are honoured to be part of this fabulous project.

Molly’s Masquerade focuses on early LGBTQIA+ culture through ‘Molly Houses’. ‘Molly’ was a slang word for a homosexual man or a lower-class woman who was sometimes a sex worker, with Molly Houses becoming a meeting place for early homosexual subculture between 1700 and 1820. Did you know that there was a Molly House close to St Margaret’s House on Whitechapel Road?
