Student Pride – Queer Bus Tour of London – Feb 11th 2018
2018 is the 30th anniversary of the introduction of Section 28, which banned the promotion of queer lifestyles in schools, we reflect on the education of queer sex and how it has progressed since. Can we, as queer people, take charge of this education? Through an interactive tour of London,’Student Pride’ and ‘Queer Tours of London – A Mince Through Time’ will take you on a informative journey of London’s queer culture, something that most queer people have been denied.
Come and learn about central London’s rich history of LGBTQIA+ arts, activism, sass, cabaret, resistance, oppression and much more! We tell the stories of London’s queer history, shedding light on the lives, spaces, identities, repression and resistance that form the backdrop of LGBTQIA+ lives today through educational, accessible and interactive walking tours, cabarets and performance-art that bring life to the complexities and lived experiences of our history, present and vision for the future. 2017 highlights include Rebel Dykes ‘Brixton Dykes on the Rampage’, the African Rainbow Family on LGBT+ Migrant rights; crawling up the House of Lords to commemorate radical sexual freedom history; agitating queer venues to become more accessible; successfully helping win back queer venues – see here for reviews

ABOUT QUEER TOURS OF LONDON – A MINCE THROUGH TIME
30 years ago this year our Government introduced ‘Section 28’ which which banned the promotion of queer lifestyles in schools. In 2018 ‘Queer Tours of London’ and friends are reclaiming the teaching of queer culture and taking charge of how it should be taught because as queer people we refuse to ever be silenced. Today we are louder and prouder than ever before. Launched in 2017 for the 50th anniversary of partial decriminalisation of homosexuality ‘QUEER TOURS OF LONDON – A Mince Through Time’ exists to bring forth the visibility of our incredible community at large and the journey to how we became who we are today. Against the backdrop of the mass closure of LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex) cultural spaces and support services, ‘QUEER TOURS OF LONDON’ are being developed to support London’s current queer activism, culture and performance in all its glory.
